Be Open To Changing Directions

Chapter 10: Taking Responsibility For Your Destiny

You Have Chosen to Remember: A Journey of Self-Awareness, Peace of Mind and Joy by James Blanchard Cisneros.

There exists a mass thought form, a mass illusion that the future will be worse than the present. Many spiritual people even share in this view and see the future as grim. This is, in part, the reason why change is difficult for most people. Because of this, many people sometimes feel safer and more comfortable with the way things are. Those who participate in this thought form usually prefer to leave things as they are and to hang on to the old ways. People who are not open to change constrict their boundaries, and their world becomes more and more narrow and limited. They nitpick and focus on petty things. We have all met people who make mountains out of molehills. These people’s concerns seem so minor that you almost stop taking them seriously. They behave this way because they have stopped taking chances, stopped expanding their lives and stopped growing. If someone has a very narrow view of the world, their ideas that support this view will be more furiously defended because it is all they believe they have. As they begin to expand their lives, so too will their ideas expand, and what once affected them will affect them less.

Many people who resist change need a helping hand in expanding their perceptions of reality. Gently assist those who are closing themselves off to change and growth to expand. As you help them expand, you will see that their judgments of your life and the way you have chosen to live it will also lessen. As you gently help them expand, they in turn will give you more freedom, but not because you are doing anything different in your life, but because they are simply more open to change, to growth and acceptance of others. Change and acceptance of others is a natural expression of personal growth. As you free your brother, you free yourself, for you and your brother are one and the same. And this will be as great a lesson for you as it will be for him.
