Daily Inspiration: August 2. Listening Is Both an Act of Kindness and Growth

Listening, truly paying attention, is a wonderful and beautiful act of kindness. We are all One, and so when anyone else is speaking to us, it is also a part of God that is doing so. We are all One, and so when anyone else is speaking to us, they represent that part of ourselves that we have failed to listen to, and so our brother and sister takes over for that unheard part of us, so that we may begin to listen to it, through them. Listening to others, is thus not only an act of love, but equally so, an act of self-love. So many times during the day, we interrupt each other, unconsciously teaching ourselves that what our brother or sister has to say is of less importance than what we have to say. Yet, out of seven billion plus people on this planet, God has put him or her specifically in front of you, so that you may hear His message through them. Yet still, the ego is trying to convince you not to pay attention, and says to you that what is happening before you, is not of real importance. We are all One, and so when we are not being respectful, and truly listening when someone else is talking, then we are not respecting ourselves. In essence, by not listening to others, we are unconsciously disavowing God’s message to us. We will never feel loved or at One with God, when we are constantly unconsciously choosing not to listen to what He is trying to share with us through others. The ego, by convincing you not to listen, is trying to further separate you from God, for if we don’t respect ourselves or others, then the ego says, how could we possible be a part of a Perfect All-Loving God? We are all One, if you, by not listening, unconsciously see others as not worthy, you will be disrespecting parts of yourself, and thus poisoning yourself through your own actions. No one who is constantly poisoning himself or herself through their own actions, will ever find true peace of mind, clarity, joy and understanding, on this physical plane. Your brothers and sisters are worthy of being heard, or else God would have not sent them to you. Today, remember to offer all your brothers and sisters the kindness of listening to them when they speak, do so, so that you may remind yourself, that you are worthy of God’s message and company.

Regardless of how much the ego tries to program us to believe that we are unworthy, always remember, that you are God’s creation, and are thus forever worthy of being listen to and heard. You are as much a gift from God to humanity, as humanity is a gift from God to you. Remember, when you encounter anyone; it is God who has placed them before you. It is God who has chosen them as His messengers, to help you remember that Divinity is forever trying to reach you. We are all One, and so practice remembering how worthy you indeed are of respect and being listened to, by listening to and respecting all those that are placed before you. The more you truly and wholeheartedly make the sincere effort to listen to others, the more respectful that you are of them, the more this will help you recall and convince you, that you too are worthy of this same respect. The more you practice interacting in this patient, loving and respectful manner, the more natural this behavior will become, and the more connected to God and others, you will feel. Be grateful for what your brothers and sisters are offering you, the opportunity to practice respecting yourself and thus coming into conscious alignment with the light in you, by truly listening and paying attention to those parts of yourself, that the ego has you call others. Today remember, that your brother and sister have been placed before you, to help you recall your perfect worth. What else but gratitude would be an appropriate response to someone who is helping you recall your perfect worth? You are indeed worthy of being One with God, and this is what The Divine is showing you, every time He gives you the opportunity to listen to His messengers.

Today, when the ego is once again trying to get our attention away from what a brother or sister is saying to us, let us practice more quickly catching ourselves when our attention is fading, and then consciously return our full attention to the gift that God has placed before us. We will know when the ego is playing its childish little games, because when someone is speaking to us, we will start tuning physically away from them, start thinking of other things, or thinking of what our response to them will be, all this instead of just listening. Today, let us use such times, not to judge ourselves as not being respectful, instead let us see such situations as opportunities being given to us, to practice returning our focus back to God’s message, and by doing so, truly becoming present. It is when you are truly present, that you can hear and see the gifts before you. When you are listening to others, don’t think of, or concern yourself with, what your response will be, or how good or smart you think you need to sound, simply listen and be there fully for them. The more you practice being silent, patiently and lovingly listening, the more you will truly get to see and feel the gift that is before you, and the more grateful to God you will become. We are all One, who is your sister or brother, but that part of yourself, that is helping you heal, and realize how much God loves and cares for you. What is God message to you today? Listen today to others, deliver His personal message to you. Remember, that it is not by chance that God’s messenger, your brother or sister, is speaking to you. Today, keep checking in on yourself when you feel your focus failing, practice returning your attention to the now, to that brother or sister in front of you, and offer your them the wondrous and beautiful gift of your true attention and total presence.

Today, let us remember, that the person before us, speaking to us, is God’s messenger. God is trying, in every moment, to reach us. When we learn to truly listen to another, The Divine is teaching us, that we are worthy of hearing His message and being One with God. Today, deny the ego when it tells you that others aren’t worth the time or effort, for we are all One, and so when you deny another their sense of worth, you deny your own self-worth. When you are constantly unconsciously denying your worth, you will feel unworthy of God. This is where the ego wants you, separate from God and aligned with it. Today, if you find your mind drifting away from what others are saying, recall that is just the ego trying to take your attention away from the sacred nature of this moment. Basically, this is the ego trying to silence God. Reject the ego’s efforts, acknowledge to yourself the gift that God has placed before you, be silent, practice keeping your full attention on what they are saying, and be grateful to God that He has offered you, through their participation in your life, the opportunities to practice recalling and acknowledging your perfect worth.
