The ego has programmed us to want what it wants us to want. When in the unconscious state, we think we want what the ego wants. Today, let us practice setting aside the ego’s constant demands by asking ourselves: “What do I ‘really’ want?” The ego is constantly telling you what you want, but what do you really want? By telling you what you want, it has in essence control over your thinking and thus over your life. It tries to sell us that we “want” something it has to offer, or that we “need” to behave in a certain manner to achieve one of its illusionary goals. Yet, after all is said and done, the ego never delivers the peace of mind, joy, clarity, understanding and connection to our Source, that we really want and desire. There is what we have been programmed to believe we want, such as more money, better cars, bigger houses, more status, power and control. Then there is what we “really” want, which is to reflect our Creator on this planet such as through being loving, peaceful, joyful, compassionate and passionate. Having since birth been programmed by the ego, it is the ego that usually answers first. So when “you” first think: “What do I want?” It is usually the ego that is answering that question, not you. But, when you take an extra moment to compose yourself and ask yourself a second question: “What do I ‘really’ want?” It is this question that helps you take back control over your thoughts and thinking. Today, let us practice, after the ego answers the first question, to take back control of our own minds, by asking the second question. This is especially useful when you start to notice that the first answer is not bringing you the peace, joy, clarity, understanding, and connection to your Creator that you as God’s creation, really deserve and desire.
Today, let us practice taking back control of our own minds by returning back to the present moment. The now, that holy instant in time, when all of the ego’s delusions are seen for what they are, released, and dissolve before our light and understanding. Let us go within and practice using that one concise but important question that will help us once again consciously align us with our Source. “What do I ‘really’ want?” or said another way: What does that part in me that is One with Love, want? This simple question will help interrupt the ego’s game plan, and bring our focus back to what truly is important. For example, I may find myself to be in a situation were I think I “want” to win an argument and prove myself right, but what I “really” want is to set a good example by being at peace, respectful and happy. Another example is that I may “want” that big juicy burger and sweet creamy milkshake, but what I “really” want is to eat healthy so I can feel good. Catch yourself when playing the ego’s mindless games, and interrupt them by consciously asking yourself of that one extra question. When executed with awareness, you will take back control of your own thinking, and as you do so the ego’s power over you will begin to diminish. What the ego wants, always, in one form or another, separates you from others, and aligns you with the scarcity mindset of the material world. What you ‘really’ want, always, in one form or another, unites you with others, and aligns you with the all-abundant Love that is your eternal essence and nature. You are, as God’s creation, forever worthy of having what you really want. What you really want are those expressions of life, that align you with your Creator, and help you achieve what you have come down here to do.
Today, after we have asked ourselves the usual programmed question of “What do I want,” let us, as rapidly as possible, ask ourselves the second and more important question, “What do I really want?” The quicker you are able to interrupt the ego, the less time you will spend dragging yourself and others through its swampland. The less time you spend in its swampland, the more you will realize that you no longer desire to be chained to its mindset and view of the world. As you start to align with what you really want, you will start to notice that in every moment, you indeed have that choice. The choice between the ego’s fear based programming and God’s love, peace, joy, clarity and understanding. Between separation from others or union. Between a world of scarcity or true abundance. Between remaining stuck in the past or living free in the present moment. As God’s creation, you are forever worthy of love, peace, joy, clarity and understanding, of true abundance. The feeling of true abundance is a symbol of one who is in alignment with their natural state, with who they were created to be. Today, let us practice returning to the now, that eternal holy instant when we are reflecting God on Earth. Let us today be grateful for every opportunities we get to practice achieving this greater self-awareness. Finally, let us be grateful to each and every person that is giving us, through their participation in our experience, the opportunities to heal and awaken. They are offering us in every interaction the opportunity to interrupt the ego, refuse its fear based programming, break the mindset that has us chained to the past, and now in control of our own minds, live our lives as they were meant to be lived, at One with our All-Loving Source.
Today, let us recall that since birth, we have been programmed by the ego to want what it wants. Thus many times, what we think we want, is not really what we want. Because of this life long program, the ego usually becomes our first response to any situation or interaction. It usually ends up answering for us, and thus we end up living its life, not ours. It is in such mindset were a lack of feeling fulfilled results. Today, let us interrupt this program and take back control of our own minds as we do so we take back control of our own lives. We do so by asking ourselves the follow up question to “What do I want?” and that is: “What do I ‘really’ want?” For example, you may want to argue your point and be right, but what you really want to be happy, respectful and at peace. What we really want is to be, in our own unique ways, a reflection and representative of Love, of our Creator here on Earth.
