Daily Inspiration: January 28. How Are You Choosing to Carry Your Past?
It is not the past, but how we choose to carry the past, that affects us now. It is not what others have done to us; it’s how we now choose to react to and carry the thoughts of their past actions, that affect us now. Let us today all start taking greater personal responsibility for how we are choosing to carry our past, and thus greater personal responsibility for how much peace or pain we end up experiencing within the present moment. The amount of weight, mental and emotional burden, that you carry from your past, is after all is said and done, purely up to you to keep or let go. It is you who can forgive the past, and thus it is you who can begin to release yourself from the burdens of the past. It is you who can choose to trust the journey that you have co-created with God, trust that His plan is perfect and that it will, in one way or another, be used for good. It is you who can recall that as God’s creation, that you are worthy of peace, and thus let go of all that does not bring you peace, by giving it all over to God. It is you who can make the conscious decision to choose forgiveness over judgment, and thus free yourself from it, instead of keeping you chained to it. It is you who can look into the past, remember that indeed we are all One, and thus what you think of others from the past will either bless and heal you, or poison you and slowly and silently make you sick. It is you who, through free will can, when you think of your past, pray for those in it, and offer everyone who was a part of it peace, love, forgiveness, compassion and understanding, or you can carry anger, hate, pain, resentment, and regret, inside of you as long as you so desire. Only you can truly decide what thoughts you will log along with you, only you can decide how to carry them, and what kind of relationship you will have with your past.
Today, ask yourself these very important questions: How much of your life, have you actually sacrificed to thinking about and judging the past, instead of living fully within the present moment? How much more of your present and future are you now willing to continue to sacrifice to the past? How much longer will you choose to value your past judgments more than the peace of mind that true forgiveness brings? How much longer do you need to torture yourself with your own thoughts? Today, let us remember that people in our past did the best they could with the coping mechanism, knowledge, and tools, they had available to them at the time. If they did the best they could, then forgiveness and compassion, not hate and condemnation, should be our response to them, and whenever we think of them. If we have been hurt, then it is part of our mission to heal and overcome these challenges, and in doing so, then be better able to help others heal and overcome those same types of challenges. Every sad, bad, or even terrible thing that has happen to us, through our power of free will, can be used for our own and this planet’s healing, growth and awakening. Imagine, the miracle worker you could become, if you were to use all the lessons learned from the past, the accumulated knowledge, wisdom and life experience, to help others heal, to help them not fall into the same traps that you fell into. Even if they find themselves in those traps, because you yourself were once able to get out of them, you can now help set them free, lead them to freedom, forever free them from what is now darkening their path, sucking their joy of life, and hurting and weighing down their bodies, hearts, minds and souls.
Today, let us remember that we have been blessed with the gift of free will, and thus have the ability to make a blessing out of a curse. Thanks to our past, our whole life experience, we can better help others understand and advance their own healing process, and at the same time lay the groundwork so that future generations need not have to go through what we went through. Imagine, what a blessing you would be to this world, if you can assist others and future generations to not go through the pain, suffering, anger, sadness, resentment and regret, that you went through. Imagine, being able, thanks to your whole life experience, to help others shorten the time they have been sacrificing to their past judgments, in essence reducing the pain that this world unconsciously thinks it needs to experience. Imagine, being able to stop people from torturing themselves with their own thoughts. This is, as God’s creation, the true blessing you can become to many on this planet. Imagine, having the power to stop just one more pain filled teardrop from falling unto Mother Earth. Imagine, becoming that ray of light, that light at the end of the tunnel, helping guide people out of their seeming dark and turbulent past that the ego has sold to them as being their true home. Imagine, being able to show your brothers and sisters that they are not alone, that they are not the first ones to feel the pain they are feeling, that they can heal, and through their healing, help others heal. Today, remember that you are God’s loving creation, that you, being the son or daughter of the Most High, have the power, courage and ability to forgive, and through your actions, teach others forgiveness. Today, let us make the conscious choice to trust that God knows what He is doing, let go of the past, return to the present moment, and by doing so be able to use our past, our whole life experience, to become the gift that we came here to be.
Today, practice remembering that it is you and only you who can make the final decision on how you will choose to carry your past. Will you use your past, your life experience, to heal and teach, or to continue to hurt yourself and others? Will you become God’s loving representative here on Earth and offer others forgiveness, compassion and understanding, or will you continue to buy into, drown in and swallow the ego’s need for anger, resentment and revenge? Will you choose to now bring healing, peace and light to this planet, or will you remain a part of its confusion and darkness and despair? Thanks to free will, the final choice is always yours to make. Through forgiveness become a liberator of souls, or through judgment imprison them within your own mind and become their jailer. Will you see and use your past, your life experience, to help heal the unhealed soul, or to look away from those symbolically kneeling on the pavement, step away from them, and blindly continue on your way.
