Listening, truly paying attention, is a wonderful and beautiful act of kindness. We are all One. So when anyone is speaking to us, it is also a part of God that is doing so. When someone is speaking to us, they represent that part of ourselves that we have failed to listen to. Our brothers and sisters take over for that unheard part of us, so that we may begin to listen to it — through them. Thus, listening to others is not only an act of love, but also an act of self-love. During the day, we often interrupt each other, unconsciously teaching ourselves that what our brother or sister has to say is of less importance than what we have to say. Yet, out of close to eight billion people on this planet, God has put him or her specifically in front of us, so that we may hear God’s message through them.
Today, let us remember that the person speaking to us is God’s messenger. In every moment, God is trying to reach us. When we learn to truly listen to another, The Divine is teaching us that we are worthy of hearing His message and being One with God. Today, deny the ego when it tells you that others are not worth the time or effort. For we are all One, and when you deny another their sense of worth, you deny your own self-worth. When you are unconsciously denying your worth, you will feel unworthy of God. This is where the ego wants you, separate from God and aligned with it. Today, if you find your mind drifting away from what others are saying, recall that is just the ego trying to take your attention away from the sacred nature of the moment. It is in essence, trying to silence God.
All glory to God.
