Daily Inspiration: December 22. Creating the Habit of Happiness
Every morning when you wake up you are born anew. We are born anew and yet always with the gift of free will. Let us use our gift to make the conscious decision to today travel in the direction of our happiness. Today we begin, little by little, shifting our time, energy and focus, towards those thoughts, things, emotions, and actions that bring us joy. Even if you just focus on doing this one more time, or five more minutes each day, you will slowly begin to see your life starting to shift in the direction of your happiness. What makes you happy? For example, feeling healthy, learning and teaching about health makes me happy, and part of that process for me is eating healthy, and part of that process is learning about and tasting all kinds of different fruits. So this morning I reached for my laptop, went to YouTube, searched tropical fruits and learn about the “dragon fruit.” Sounds like a relatively simple thing to do, right? But learning about a new fruit and that fruit’s healing properties made me happy, and I got out of bed with this inspired feeling, inspired to try dragon fruit next time I see it at my local market and talk to others about its healing qualities. Let us remember, that because of the gift of free will, it is we who have control over our thoughts, and so if your thoughts are not moving you in the direction of your joy, then make the conscious decision to shift the focus of your thoughts to help you achieve your desired goal. Do not put yourself down if you are currently entertaining thoughts that are driving you away from joy, instead use this new found self-awareness to move you towards your desired destination, to stop going away from joy and start moving towards joy. Then offer your non joy producing thoughts gratitude for helping you figure out that their direction is not yours, that your direction is one that brings you closer to the state of joy, and because you have free will, you can now more clearly choose the thoughts and thinking that will help get you there.
How many dozens of opportunities, as simple as searching for a new type of fruit and tasting it, do we have to inspire us throughout the day and thus move our life, little by little, in the direction of our happiness? The more we make the conscious decision to move towards happiness, the more we will notice how much joy is available to us, how truly natural it is for us to feel joyous, and how much we enjoy being the joyful beings that we were created to be. We were created to be, experience and share Love’s expressions, and to express this love in whatever specific and individual ways best fit us and our value systems. We were created to create as The Divine creates, all that He is we are, He is Love, and therefore so too must we be Love. He has gifted us free will, thus we can express ourselves through Love in any way that we so desire. Love has numerous expressions such as that of being kind, compassionate, passionate, peaceful, playful, forgiving, graceful and joyful. Today, joy is what we are being asked to focus on and create, and so let us go ahead and do that. It does not matter what you create or how you create it, as long as it brings joy. Joy, being an expression of Love, aligns you with all of Love’s expressions, and so anytime you are creating through any of Love’s expressions, you are equally creating joy and joyously. Be kind, compassionate, passionate, peaceful, playful, forgiving, graceful and you will, in one form or another, be creating joy. It is not in truth difficult to be the joyful being that you were create to be, what is really hard to do is to not be joyful. What is hard for us is to choose to do things that move us away from our joy. And so when the ego tries to convince you that happiness is hard, smile at its illusionary thinking, recall that Love and thus Joy created you, and begin to create as you were meant to create, joyously.
Today, let us make it a conscious and concerted effort to dedicate this day to doing and focusing on a few extra thoughts, things, emotions and actions that makes us happy. How easy and enjoyable will our efforts be today? Simply taking a little extra time during the day, and asking yourself what would make me happy right now? Focusing on your own joy is not a selfish act. Remember that we are all One, and so whatever makes you happier makes all of us, Oneness, in one form or another, happier. Focusing on being joyful helps others see and recall that they too have that same right, and that right is always but a simple choice away. Imagine making Oneness, all of us happier by simply focusing on your own joy, how lovely and light-filled would such a day, and thus life become. Let us also remember that because we are all One, when you make another person happy, that energy has to flow through you first. That happiness flows through you, touches and blesses the other being, that being then takes it with him, and yet at the same time that happiness forever remains within you. Then thanks to you offering your happiness to them, they too forever get to keep its memory and share it with others. The happier we become, the greater our light will shine, and the more others will be able to see, through our example, that their happiness is also available to them right now. Do what brings you joy, be who you were created to be, that is all you are being asked to do today, to practice remembering the thoughts, things, emotions and actions that align you, and thus everyone you touch, with joy.
Today, if sadness comes knocking at your mind’s door, do not put yourself down, nor judge it, yourself or others, simply let it remind you that today, your true goal, is to consciously focus your time, energy and effort, on becoming and experiencing happiness. Joy is an expression of Love, and Love is your Creator, and thus you are forever worthy of being, sharing and experiencing God’s gifts. It is always ok to feel your feelings, but use such times to notice which feelings are truly aligned with The Light in you. Keep supporting those feelings that align with The Light in you, and let us stop supporting those feelings that are not supporting us. Let us also remember that we are all One, and so whatever it is that we offer others, we will get to experience ourselves. Let us forgive others, and pray for their health and happiness, it will be by doing so that will help us recall that we too are worthy of this same peace of mind and joy.
